Thank you to Judge Stacey Schulman for your leadership of our Unit this past year and for our continued friendship. Like the many presidents of our Unit that have come before, Judge Schulman has continued to build on a great tradition of philanthropic, legal, social, educational, and cultural events. Our Unit is unique in that we rotate the role of president between lawyers and judges. I am honored and privileged to now fill that role and I look forward to working with Judge Michael Rothschild, the President-elect.
I also am looking forward to working with a great Board to continue and expand our programming. One of the many things that I have always found so special about BBJU is our Unit’s commitment to tikkun olam (repairing the world). Tikkun olam is not just an idea about making the world a better place, it is about doing and action! Our Unit has contributed to this effort through collecting kosher food for the Goodman Jewish Family Services Cupboard; we have collected backpacks and school supplies for children through Family Central; and one of my favorite events is our annual visit to the Borger Senior Residence where we provide a party with food and music for the seniors there. These are just some of the great activities and programs that our members participate in throughout the year and that we will continue in 2018.
If you are attending our Annual Installation & Brunch for the first time and you are not a member of our Unit, please consider joining. You can do this through our website at www.justiceunit.org . If you are already a member but you have not attended our other great events during the year, please add our events to your calendar. You can also check out our events through Facebook on our B’nai B’rith Justice Unit Page.
